missaliss one tree,

this is the first time I have seen your work and felt the title works. It goes well of course... is the trim her head or just some of the longer branches? But why cut yourself in the fall when your leaves are going to fall off anyway? There is a lot of depth here, and each layer adds more ambiguity, and that is fun. Arbus and Sherman and Belmer would be proud. From what I have seen of your work I get many overwhelming comments on female social mores, and they hit the nail. I'd like to see you now tackle something else with such effortlessness.

Zen master and activist Thich Nhat Hahn once said that a tree is like the branches of our lungs, but upside down. We need them just as they need us. And so, we are One. (rough paraphrase). This image reminds me of the interconnectedness of all things, and seems to out the insanity of a disharmonious existence. The white gown could represent the sterility of techno-utopia, and the mechanical blades are the enslavement and destruction of the planet.

This is an interesting photo. There is a somber tone, and rightfully so. To prune is cut of the dead, useless, or unwanted. However, pruning is also to heal and improve , and it is only done by someone who cares enough to inflict the injury.
Fall is an interesting choice. The best time to prune is in the dormant season, right before spring. Perhaps some weight that wasn't worth carrying through the winter?
I'm curious.
